YEP Outreach & Development

Partners for Youth with Disabilities, Inc. (PYD) is committed to empowering young people with disabilities to reach their full potential. We do this by providing high quality one-to-one and group mentoring programs where caring adults act as positive role models and provide support, understanding and guidance for youth as they strive to reach their personal, educational and career goals. Through these varied role model relationships, young people and their families learn that growing up with a disability need not inhibit self-esteem nor limit career and personal options. PYD is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the full potential of children and adolescents with disabilities in the age range of 6-24. Through 4 programs, PYD reaches 300 youth and young adults per year in Massachusetts and provides them opportunities to reach their full potential. Our offerings are both site and community based and include theatre arts (Access to Theatre), healthy living (Making Healthy Connections), and life and career readiness skill development (YEP) programs in addition to Mentor Match, the founding core one-to-one mentoring program. PYD is known as a leader in the field of mentoring, as evidenced by numerous awards, both at the local and federal level. In addition to direct service to youth with disabilities, PYD's National Center provides training and technical assistance to other youth serving organizations wishing to replicate program models for youth with disabilities or make their existing programs more inclusive. Throughout our 30 year history, PYD programs have helped youth with disabilities to achieve a greater degree of independence and a higher level of self-esteem and motivation as they strive to lead self-sufficient and productive lives.
